I take being emperor seriously but I feel like I'm the only one.

Julie Allen, 45, a former respiratory therapist who's currently a stay-at-home mom, is among the AI 101 students. “I signed up as quickly as I could because everything is going to AI now and I didn't want to be left behind,” she said.

I have the thoughts about this! 😆

LaunchCode is a jobs training program. So if people aren't hiring, they have to pivot. They can't train people how to code for the fun of it. BUT. Training 45yo health specialists in agentic coding to make software is like training her in LLM prompting to make movies, because "AI is where movies are going".

Writing prompts for LLMs can certainly take skill, but you want people making software to understand software, how it works, how it's written, the data models you're creating... movies at least have the benefit of literally WYSIWYG.

At some point, many videography departments stopped requiring kids take film production classes before they could work in video. It always helped to know film production. All the terms and concepts around video production are framed around film production. But new kids could onboard a lot quicker and could largely ignore what they were doing. Postmodernism helped! We're not there with agent stuff.
