I'm part of the fad for durable repairable goods, healthy food made from scratch. It's a lot about externalities.

I think everyone knew when these wonder products were introduced that they weren't lifestyles, but a few generations later it's hard to stop.

I like the sound bites, but he goes too far. There is great freedom in what we do, and this is a complex issue.

@33MHz I've taken to making popcorn on my stovetop and it's SO much better than microwave popcorn but I ate the microwave version forever becauses it was convenient. I'm glad I decided to switch.
@joanna yes, stovetop popcorn is really simple and delicious… butter is good, but there is also good flavor even in the popcorn itself (well, and a touch of oil from cooking). Peanuts without salt.
@33MHz I use a bit of vegetable oil and have some very fine ground salt and pepper that I put in the pan after the oil heats up a bit and before I add the kernals. So good!
