I had a very different experience that it describes although the people who put together the money for my startup employment may have been in that mode exactly so they could walk away as soon as the stupidity became a requirement.

@igmp_join another way to say this is smart people work for small risky businesses until their adventures make a difference, then big companies buy them out. Keep risk outside the behemoth until it's worth buying.

@33MHz @igmp_join Of the dozen start-ups I wandered through over my career I would say at least 3/4 of the founders wanted exactly that outcome. They [and we mere engineers] had the most fun in free-wheeling problem solving, not grownup management.
