Rockwell bugs

This week I truly discovered a bug in very mature software that is no longer being developed but will be widely used for possibly decades: RSLogix 500.

Then today I had to run out to fix a symptom of another bug that I haven’t quite figured out, in the Logix Designer 5000 CompactLogix series. Very modern.

I have enough trouble producing good machine programming without the vendor adding to my trouble.

@mandy I wonder does this bug affects people's workflows or if it's serious enough that it's unusable? At least they should keep it around for security/maintain reasons.
@joe The bug in RSLogix 500 is that the LIM instruction should not contain any Float data types but the software still verifies and allows you to download and run on the PLC.
@joe Rockwell decided that issuing a new technote would have to be sufficient because these products are so mature. I found one scenario where the LIM instruction with Floats just wouldn’t work right in run mode, and another where it worked fine.
@joe The CompactLogix issue rendered the machine’s touchscreen inoperable, but it might already be fixed in newer firmware. I couldn’t figure that part out yet.
