I recently started a new software development project and purposefully chose to create the git repository with a default branch 'main' rather than 'master'. I wanted to see what if any issues would occur with the various tools that I used that assume 'master' as the default branch name. So far I've only needed to explicitly specify a branch name in a couple of places, otherwise everything works as it should. This is something I should have done a long while frankly and will start making that same transition to my various existing project repositories both public and private.
