Back in 2012/13 I bought a goose-neck temperature controlled electric kettle, it’s started to misbehave recently. It boils OK but won’t reboil unless I reset the chosen temperature. So I bought another one of a different brand, with a few more features. It has a current time display, enabling auto-start & count-up starts. Set it to be boiled at a certain time in the future & it will try very hard to have the water boiled by that time. I’m a bit dubious about that feature, various reviews say it’s internal clock loses three minutes per day.

@peemee you know, a lot of house fires start with faulty water kettles. this is why i never put it on its pedestal unless i'm boiling water.
i don't know how paranoid you are about fire, but that's my two cents. ;)
@peemee 3 minutes a day is a lot!
