@bazbt3 can't agree with this sentence "Given the magnitude of the worldwide change we're living through, I believe it's important to focus on the bad stuff." We certainly need more good news reporting - about how successful we are. Part of the reason we are in the position that we're in now is because of all the negative and bad news stories that are in the media.

@bazbt3 Living just outside of D.C., I can't escape the Post. It does have some good reporting, but there are times when it doesn't go deep enough. Lately, though, it's been better. I mix in Vox, The Guardian, The Atlantic and The Wall Street Journal.
… Incidentally, just ignore the maths in one of my blog posts linked to in my last post, I can't recreate enough interest to correct the flaws.
@GadgetComa Depth, balance, scope, perspectives; exactly! Thanks for reading. :)
@bazbt3 If only more people would seek the same kind of balance.
@GadgetComa It all comes down to one question: do you want an easy life? Sure it's an open-ended query; knowing stuff was once said to give the seeker knowledge, power. Yeah, no.
@RossA I thought I covered that, at least in part, in the next paragraph. I was quite proud I remembered 'astroturfing' too. ;)
@RossA in the US , news ceased to be a public service or a kind of information-commons and became a for profit business at the same time politics became a billionaires club. Bad news is good business and fuel for forging political followings.
@RossA for similar reasons, I enjoyed the movie (Demain)[https://www.demain-lefilm.com/en/film]
