Men 45+: Consider getting checked
I had a colonoscopy yesterday. Five years sooner than when most men are supposed to get their first, but I had a concern.
The prep was not the worst thing I have ever drink. It was like lightly-sweetened water stored in a milk jug long enough to impart that plastic smell. Despite following the eating, drinking, and rules with the prep, I was almost rejected from the procedure, as the effluent was almost not clear enough to perform the procedure.
Those of you who have said that I was full of crap, I have no more argument with you. 🙂
The procedure was done, though. The staff was courteous and professional. When the IV anesthesia began, I tried to count. I remember getting to 8, and then waking up later. I don’t remember getting sleepy. I was just out. When I woke up, I had a little loss in coordination, but I wasn’t bad. The better half drove me home.
They found two polyps and removed them. Five years before I was supposed to know. A little scary there. If you’re a guy my age, and you have concerns, I would recommend getting checked. Please.
If you have sons, the resulting gas will have them worshipping you in no time. :)
