@jws It grew, originally, out of my own sloppiness, I think. :) At base, it serves as a kind of CYA for myself in the face of unreliable webforms and “let me remove this uncommitted code, but cut it instead of delete, just in case”, and “what was that test value from 10 minutes ago?” sort of usage. Stuff not worth noting permanently, but that I may want to reference again in seconds or hours. It’s a helpful safety net I’ve come to rely on, more than a strategic tool, I guess.

@muncman I’ve never felt the need on macOS (yay multiple windows and multitasking without animations in the way), but I could go for that with iOS sometimes. Suspect there were some, then they cracked down on the shared clipboard with iOS 4 or 5. :\
@jws A multi-clipboard is very central to how I work on macOS. I was irked when I made my previous post because I somehow lost my pasteboard while switching from one app to another. I should probably compose in Drafts more than I do to avoid this.
@muncman :( Frustrating.

But now I’m curious how the multi clipboard plays into your Mac usage!

@muncman Ah, I get it now! I never would have guessed how long-term (for a clipboard) it’s useful over. I always think of the Emacs kill-ring when people talk about clipboard history, but that wouldn’t be useful in the same way at all. Thanks!
@der_Jeff I could see it being a bug. Thanks for mentioning that - but sorry it’s impacting you, as well. :\
@der_Jeff I’ve used Copied before. It was good. It’s a hard problem to solve on iOS, though. On macOS, I’ve been pretty happy with Paste [pasteapp.me]. They have an iOS companion app, too, but I don’t use it much at all.
