@unixb0y way back when, I used to have a Dual 505-2, loved it. Can't really remember the full set up process but a ton of manuals can be found here. https://www.vinylengine.com/library.shtml
@Andrew thank you for the link :)
Maybe it is because it "electronic control"? (don't know what about it should be controlled but maybe the inwards force)
@unixb0y D3 print youself one! :P
@unixb0y there's a service manual in this list http://www.vintageshifi.com/repertoire-pdf/Philips.php

Right. Breakfast time, neeeeed coooffffeeeee
@blumenkraft 😅😅😅😅😅
@Andrew oh cool thank you very much! They don't have the user manual unfortunately but maybe I can derive some information from that one :)
@Andrew look what I found: a wiki page about it.
http://www.hifi-wiki.de/index.php/Philips_AF_685
I think I'll just make the tonearm horizontal with the big weight at the back and then use the small moveable 1-4g counter weight to lower the tone arm?
@unixb0y that would be my guess. 1.5g pressure I think I saw?
@Andrew where did you find that ? :)
@unixb0y @ unixb0y Actually, I think the weight is determined by the cartridge, look up your cartridge number, should be a suggested weight.
@Andrew yes, right :) and the weight is measured "from horizontal position", right ?
Another question: when i started to try getting the arm horizontal, the needle hit the plate, is this a problem?
@unixb0y it's been a looooong time since I tinkered with such kit :) - http://chimpnut.nl/u/Andrew/lp/14413 - #longpost
@Andrew okay :) First I just want to have it so that the sound is fairly nice and most importantly the records don't get eaten up..
Do you think that it could have damaged the needle when it "crashed" (slightly) into the plate twice?
@unixb0y it's 'probably' ok having just read this (scroll down to 'stylus') http://shure.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4135/~/stylus-wear-and-record-wear
@Andrew they say 1,5-3g tracking force and 7g weight.
