So Microsoft is officially banned any workarounds on #Windows 11 that allows people to change the default browser, thus forcing people to use Edge. https://www.howtogeek.com/774542/windows-11-officially-shuts-down-firefoxs-default-browser-workaround/

Like I said, stay away from Windows 11 until we can pressure lawmakers and regulators from all sides of the globe of this blatant antitrust issue.

Old Microsoft is back, bay bay!

@joe that was the last straw. I feel like I have seen this before...when MS killed the Netscape insurgency by integrating IE into their OS. How many harms that did. I am finally making my self install Linux. Bumpy ride but nicer country.
@prometheus It's well worth the journey. @joe
@prometheus Good for you! I have been Linux happy for about a decade now. No regrets.

I still use Windows 10 but it's on my other PC since I have four in total.
@joe wait… won’t the EU be up in arms over this? I recall a decade ago they forced them to let users select a default upon setting up the OS.
@jacobrealo I thought the USA was the one who initially forced the issue.
@prometheus lots of support from others in the linux boat here. 😉 #linux_mint
@joe
@33MHz @joe I keep saying I have had it with Microsoft but this morning I find transfer of photos from iOS [my phone just updated] to Windows seems broken...iPhone photos clearly present, window explorer sees empty /DCIM/. Screw'em both!
@jacobrealo They should be, but so far there's no action.

I know the US had a huge beef with them in the 90s with IE but it wasn't strong enough in retrospect.
@igmp_join @jacobrealo Yep in the late 1990s but in retrospect it wasn't strong enough. They got away with it mostly clean.
