work rants
Someone asked me recently why I've been in "looking for work" status so long. My answer? Because hiring managers want a "unicorn" but are only willing to pay for a "pony."
Many job postings today are packed with: ✅ Entry-level roles requiring 5+ years of experience ✅ "Fast-paced environment" (aka, you'll do 3 jobs for 1 salary) ✅ A list of skills that would take 3 lifetimes to master ✅ Unrealistic salary expectations for the amount of work required
Most listings I've seen want a senior-level expert at an intern's salary. It matters not what kind of work it is, this seems to be the unrealistic norm nowadays and it's exactly what leads to employee apathy and burnout.
